Progression from the baby room to the toddlers happens when your child is ready. They will have spent some time with all age groups already in order to facilitate a smooth transition.
In the toddler room, the children are supposed to become independant and to gain confidence. The older children are encouraged to partake in the planned activities and experiences provided by the staff, to help your child's learning and support development of the early learning goals:
Personal, Social and Emotional development
Communication, Language and literacy
Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
Knowledge and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development
The room is equipped with toys and equipment for developmentand learning, from puzzles and books to construction and creative. The children also have access to our secure outside play area, where they will have the opportunity of growing flowers, fruit and vegetables which we can use in the nursery. All hot and cold meals are freshly cooked on site. We also provide healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day. As with the baby room, special dietary needs can be catered for.
Your child will have a home - nursery link book for you, the parents, and the nursery staff to write down anything significant
as with the babies, 'Open Arms' provides nappies/trainer pants, all we ask from you is:
A change of clothes
A soother/dummy or favourite comforter
A bag or rucksack - No carrier bags please
Anything else you consider nescessary for your child
We have toilets, potties and stools for when your child is ready for toilet training. We will alwaysdiscuss this stage with you, so home and nursery support the process together.
